Who we are
Strange Embrace is an independent jewellery studio of Irish origin, now based in Melbourne / Naarm. Each piece is handmade in small batches, with a focus on form, texture, and longevity. Our jewellery is crafted using traditional techniques, carving each design in wax so that no two pieces are exactly the same.
We work primarily with recycled 925 sterling silver and lab-grown stones, valuing materials that balance durability, intention, and responsibility.
Our Inspiration
Strange Embrace draws inspiration from ancient Ireland — megalithic landscapes, portal tombs and dolmens, carved standing stones, and the heavy, sculptural forms of Bronze Age jewellery. The people who built these structures had a deep understanding of light, aligning stone and space with the movement of the sun. This relationship between form and light informs our work, where surfaces, textures, and openings are designed to catch, hold, and reflect light in subtle, intentional ways.
Rather than decorative excess, we focus on simple forms with depth — pieces that feel considered, worn, and timeless.
Customs
While many of our pieces are crafted in 925 sterling silver, we don’t limit ourselves to one metal. We enjoy collaborating with clients to create custom pieces in 14k or 18k gold, tailoring each design to your vision. Whatever your idea, we’ll work together to bring it to life in the metal that best suits your style.
Acknowledgement of Country
We acknowledge the Woiwurrung and Boonwurrung people of the Kulin nations as the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and work. We pay respects to elders past and present — Sovereignty was never ceded.
